Da un pò di tempo a questa parte hanno catturato la mia attenzione di ingegnere quelle macchine da gioco nelle quali si deve pilotare un braccio meccanico nel tentativo di effettuare una “pesca miracolosa” in un mare di pupazzi o giocattoli; in inglese, crane/claw machine/game…

Osservando qua e là i giocatori occasionali, ho sempre visto molti fallimenti e mi sono chiesto come funzionasse il sistema. Nel tentativo di batterlo, chiaramente.
Guardando i movimenti del braccio meccanico, si nota chiaramente che anche quando l’oggetto sembra preso, i “muscoli” pneumatici sembrano perdere improvvisamente forza, deludendo l’ignaro giocatore, il quale altro non ha che andarsene a mani vuote o continaure a riempire il salvadanaio della macchina-sanguisuga.
Si, perchè naturalmente, di un gioco “non pari” si tratta, come tutte le slot machine.
Come funziona? L’ipotesi che mi sono costruito è che il proprietario/costruttore delle macchine imposti un “win-ratio”, ovvero il numero di vincite ogni 100 giocate, a seconda del valore dei premi; l’esempio spesso ricorrente sono le “

” riempite con palloni di marca, ognuno dei quali costa anche 30/40 ?. Aspettiamo il momento opportuno per agire, ci avviciniamo e introduco nella fessura il mio euro.
La sfiga è sempre in agguato: la moneta SI BLOCCA nella fessura! Niente, pigio il pulsante, muovo la macchina, non c’è verso di farlo scendere o salire. Beh, pazienza, la macchina mi ha pure imbrogliato nel modo più scorretto!! Mi arrendo alla sfiga e inserisco il secondo euro nella seconda fessura, dopo aver visto se fosse libera o intasata, ho voglia di fare almeno un tentativo!
“tlin!” comincia il countdown di 20 secondi.. 3…2…1…0! Il braccio scende, abbraccia lo splendido pallone da beach-volley, lo stringe con i suoi 3 artigli, sale, sale, sale… ad un certo punto i bracci si aprono e il pallone torna inesorabilmente al suo posto. Desolato, faccio segno ad Anna che “non è giusto” e le dico che sono pronto ad andare via.
Qui comincia il bello.
Anna, che per indole non è abituata a perdere quando gioca, si toglie una forcina dai capelli, me la consegna con l’ordine imperativo di estrarre l’euro incastrato nella fessura numero uno. Io la guardo esterrefatto, per evitare di fare una figuraccia in mezzo a tutto l’Iper di Varese, ma il suo sguardo non ammette repliche. Mi metto in ginocchio e come un Arsenio Lupin comincio a ravanare nella fessura. Passa 1 minuto, si forma un crocicchio di gente attorno a noi due, io sempre più imbarazzato, Anna sempre più determinata a rientrare in possesso dell’euro. Finalmente, dopo circa 3/4 minuti, riesco ad estrarre l’euro, il quale… rotola sotto la macchinetta, nella polvere! Mi sdraio sul pavimento, nell’ilarità generale della gente. Mi rialzo, euro in mano, convinto che il mio momento “al centro dell’attenzione sia finito”.
Anna vuole giocare. Io voglio battere quella macchina antipatica e mangia soldi…
Inserisco la moneta, quella che miha fatto sudare per 5 minuti.
Muovo il joypad in una posizione impeccabile.
Attendo che le vibrazioni del movimento cessino.
Il braccio scende.
